Why belief in Jesus and the Christian New Testament is Logical and Rational
Mathematics is the language of the universe and thus the language of God to us. In that discipline there are real and imaginary number lines which lie on the Cartesian coordinate map. Here is an example of a seeming mathematical impossibility. The Japanese people mostly all believe in Shinto. They also mostly all believe in Buddhism. And to top it off many religious Japanese include Christianity along with their many temples and eclectic faiths! In Mathematics we would say that the pie should add up to 100% so that is impossible! The Bible says “If God be for us who can be against us”. The Japanese people cannot do math but they know how to hedge their bets.
The Bible is a book that is “God breathed” but not literally dictated by the hand of a big man in the sky. It is true the Old Testament presents a restricted cosmology that would seem to contradict this. It is a work compiled for the Old World and the needs of the Old World. The Jews say the Sky God wrote 613 commandments on stone with his finger. This is not in the Bible and is one of their lies. First of all it was not 613 laws it was ten common sense principles well understood in the human heart . The Apostle to the Goyim, Paul tells us that this natural law resides in every human. Christianity is not gobbledygook. Neither is it strictly a religion and ultimately does not have physical buildings. It self admits to being a “house” that God is building with humans souls as its building material. It is a belief system that does not have a physical Church organization and neither does it teach condemnation. It is a metaphysical belief system. Again “if God be for us who can be against us”. Metaphysical means there is another place where the FORMS of reality exist apart from this material world. Although this “place” is not a physical place it can thought of as the “place” where we can imagine God exists. The denial of these forms and this metaphysical point of view is called Nominalism. The Greek philosopher Plato described the reality of the FORMS.
Nominalism states that there is only the color blue because we all agree that we see a blue color. This may also be called existentialism. But what about shades of blue? Is a blue-green blue or green? It turns out scientifically there IS a true Blue just as Plato predicted there would be. Christianity itself admits that it is a creation of the seven ecumenical councils and was greatly shaped by Tomas Aquinas (1225–1274). Aquinas merged the principles of Aristotle into Church dogma and created a basis for the advancements of science based on logic and Reason. However it is Plato that gave us the understanding of the Metaphysical world view. Unfortunately the advantages of fear based organized religion outweigh the principle of Love. Admittedly this “protective” fence was meant to reign in the stranglers and renegades but as the New Testament Bible says “perfect love casts out fear”. Therefore there IS NO HELL FIRE. The one place where Hell is mentioned it is in context with the final burning of all the “refuse” that remains and the consummation of the new earth and new heavens. In other words to those doubters that want to be angry at God for all the heartache and misery in the world and in their lives there is a reconciliation. When you go to a construction site don’t you find scrapes of wood and debris laying helter-skelter and the unfinished structure looks like a haunted house? Can there be any gain without pain? The many metaphors of our physical existence tell us we are on a path. Time is linear into the future not the past. We can never change the past but quantum physics says time is variable and can be manipulated so then there is a hint that all is in the “mind” of God.
Darwinism and evolution are often cited as the basis for modern Atheism but in reality ignorance and the desire to escape from moral responsibility are the real reason for modern Atheism. There are many proofs to numerous to cite here for the uniqueness of the created universe showing it is not a product of random chance. Noam Chomsky for instance is called the “father of modern linguistics”. This is what he found. The idea that a grunt could be modified over and over to create the concept and phenomena of language is absurd if not downright impossible. This creates for us an introduction to the New Testament where the definitions for the Christian faith reside. The Bible is a mystical book. We almost may say magical. There are four “gospel” accounts. Why four? Why are there four cardinal points to the compass? Something is being said to us and indicated as a metaphor. The forth “gospel” is REALLY GOOD NEWS. It says in the very beginning: “In the Beginning was the Logos and the Logos became God”. What is that word “Logos”? It is the Greek word Plato had coined some 500 years before and was the main language in the time of Jesus of Nazareth. How is this possible? Because the Bible is a mystical even magical work which flies off the page in front of our eyes if we have eyes to see and ears to hear we find this word is chock full of meaning. It can mean Reason. It can mean Logic. It is the foundation of all understanding. From Wikipedia:

Ancient Greek philosophers used the term in different ways. The sophists used the term to mean discourse. Aristotle applied the term to refer to “reasoned discourse”[4] or “the argument” in the field of rhetoric, and considered it one of the three modes of persuasion alongside ethos and pathos.[5] Pyrrhonist philosophers used the term to refer to dogmatic accounts of non-evident matters. The Stoics spoke of the logos spermatikos (the generative principle of the Universe) which foreshadows related concepts in Neoplatonism.[6]
So you can see, the Jesus of the Christians is a very sophisticated concept which the Jews were not able to comprehend with their subhuman fear based derivative of the fertility cults common in their day. Just a word of caution. As with buying detergent. You can buy good better and best and get your clothes relatively clean. Judaism, Islam are the root religions that Christianity is built upon. If you want a belief system and not just a religion the one that gets your clothes “whitest” so to speak is Christianity. It is a not a religion it is a metaphysical system.
The Bible is self authenticating in a mystical way. No other book can do this. What is known as a topological metaphor is a literary device that when applied to the Bible shows that ether there were a bunch of monks with time on their hands or something cosmological has left its imprint. Take your pick.
Oddly enough the New Testament Christian Scriptures have a book called the “Acts of the Apostles”. It is a very confusing book because it tells of a history of transition. It is the history of the transition from Judaism to Christianity. There are twelve Jewish apostles and they seem to fade away and this celibate renegade named Paul seems to steal the show and set forth a new religion. Even Scholars are mostly unanimous that this is the case. Why would God change his mind and switch horses if the Jews were his “Chosen People”? This is the question of the ages for the person set on religious dogma. The answer is very simple. Religious pluralism with good, better and best. The worst case is selecting “none of the above”. This is a bad choice. Even selecting an eastern “faith” is better than selecting “none of the above” or worse yet selecting an “imaginary number” on the negative side. Selecting on the negative side of our theological number line is called Nihilism* . As can be seen from our mathematical model of meaning selecting “none of the above” will get you a failing grade cosmologically speaking and is un-necessary. By staying on the positive number line we have Reason, Rationality and Logic all preserved for us just as the all wise omniscient transcendent “God” would have us understand. It is un-necessary to go into the dark with “blind faith”.
Jesus is the Logos of history. You may wish as I do to believe strictly in the Logos but in any case the Bible is a mystical book and you should read it for yourself carefully and in full expectation that it will change you.
You must remember that the world was filled with religions whose main purpose was population control. Infanticide was the chief reason for their existence. The priests of these various fertility cults would hand select who would live and who would be chosen to carry on the blood line. On a certain day they would kill the babies that were deselected. Christmas and New Years are celebrations of this man made birth death cycle. Opps, too graphic? Anthropologists as well as priests and ministers are loath to point this out but it is the most salient reason to consider the Logos cosmological theory embracing the Bible and Christianity.
The New Atheists ** want you to believe that the Darwinian hypothesis takes care of this dilemma but think about it. For hundreds if not thousands of years this birth death cycle was handled in these crude ways yet in a mere 300-100 years we have entered into what is called the post-modern era when crude superstition can now be replaced with objective Science as the new Religion leading the way? Oddly enough this era was the one that was birthed by men who were not only philosophers but also members of the Church. What Church? Before and during the Enlightenment in the west everyone was a believer in God. Now this time period is really a blink of an eye. Are you telling me no one thought of these things before?
And what about the recent problem with hunger poverty disease and WAR? Do the oligarchs not know that all our modern wars are artificially manufactured by the money powers that be? Are these wars not justified for the same population control reasons of the ancient fertility cults? You know in your heart they are.
The truth is none of us are perfect yet it is a well known truth that modern university training does not provide the depth and breadth of philosophical knowledge once considered mandatory for every high born educated person in Europe. This is not to be scoffed at. Today unless one actually takes his valuable time to investigate the basis of Reason in the Trivium method, he will have no knowledge of these things and will be essentially an ignoramus. He is simply a trained organ grinder’s monkey for the grand purposes of the Oligarchy. The Trivium method is the study of logic, grammar and rhetoric; the foundations of a liberal arts education.
The Bible says Jesus or the Logos came that “They might have life and have it more abundantly”. Your local Church organization will quote this verse but will they tell you the meaning of the Pythagorean 3-4-5 triangle? This Greek architectural wonder is a geometrical analogy for the Trivium concept now almost extinct and only taught in a few Jesuit staffed Universities here and there. Let us not fail to mention the Quadrivium which builds upon the Trivium method who’s purpose is to start us into the hard sciences. Of course the Quadrivium is where we put our mathematical talents to real practical use becoming the co-creators with God himself. What greater privilege could there be?
Just a personal word here from this writer. If God be for us who can be against us? Is what has been presented out of line with common sense? Can we see that a change is upon us and we must find our way out of the darkness and into the light? Jesus / Logos said he was the light of the world. What does this “light” symbolize? Is it not the TRUTH, as he said “I am the Way the Truth and the Life? So to sum it all up (notice the mathematical dual meaning) we may have been lied to along the way but what parent does not tell small convenient miss-truths to protect their children from some of the harsh realities of life? We have to forgive and accept our ministerial clergy as they are and attempt to educate them in the new way.
Forgiveness is a psychological necessity. Without it one cannot accept one’s self let alone others. Adapting the sacrificial system of the fertility cults embodied in the sacrifice of Jesus with modifications allows us to build in modern times a new platform for self acceptance. Jesus died for the sins of all men not just some select righteous do-gooders. It is not about doing enough good to merit consideration by God. We instinctively know this and do not need to be reminded of the absurdity by self-righteous fundamentalists. Some have tried to self-justify themselves with this philosophy and in the end show themselves as flaming hypocrites. On the other hand having one’s conscience free of guilt allows one to embrace his fellow man without contract thus freeing himself to practice true acts of loving kindness without seeking reward. It should be obvious that without this civilized society is not possible and the iron fist of the State becomes not only God but prison warden. No one really wants this.
That the enlightenment was NOT a product of getting rid of God can be demonstrated further but will not be the objective of this work. It is however well worth investigation for the skeptic. In fact the opposite is demonstratively true that the cloistered clergy had the time and energy to develop methods of recording and education to prepare the burst of knowledge that was pent up and pending. Many will admit that the condition for the enlightenment had existed long ago for instance in the Classical Greeco -Roman period. Why did we not have rockets to the moon over 2000 years ago? Did we not need a time for reflection as a human species to develop and reflect on the Bible story?
Statistically the graph above says it all. Atheism is NOT in ascendance. Traditional religion is not doing all the well either. The fastest demographic is a group called the Nones plotted as No Religion. This group believes in many things unseen and some things imagined to be seen such as UFOs. This group spends much time thinking about life and death and is quite concerned about the future of humanity. However if there is a God would he not reveal himself some other way than the gantry of an extraterrestrial space-craft? Indeed he would. Study classical philosophy and the great theologians of the Old Word and you will see something much less primitive than you imagined and nothing as primitive as suggested by the New Atheists.
